Tallinn

Estonia

Getting drunk can be an expensive affair, especially if you live in Finland. That’s why Finns for many years used to look southwards to the Baltics in search of cheaper fun. Only a two hour ferry trip away from Helsinki, Estonia’s capital Tallinn tempts with cheap booze shops. A trip from Helsinki to Tallinn typically costs between 10 and 30 euros.

That’s how I ended up on the ferry to Tallinn (not because of the alcohol), the possibility to reach a new country in such a simple (cheep and fun) way was very tempting. You can’t miss the alcohol stores once you get off the ferry in Tallinn. They are large, bright, and numerous, yet this city offers much more.

Marzipan is one of the oldest sweets made in Estonia, and it was first used as a medicine as it was thought it have healing properties. Sweet is my niche after all, so this kind of information doesn’t go unnoticed. I still want to believe that’s true, I love marzipan a lot and I bought it in large quantities (as gifts of course). Everyone has their own joy.

This was a perfect day trip, and it definitely made me want to explore Estonia a little bit more.

I hope you like this little photo diary I put together to share my time adventuring around Tallinn. Let me know if you have visited Estonia and how did you like it. If anyone has any feedback I’d be so appreciative to receive your comments and questions below.
