Let’s choose the warmest day while we are in Morocco to visit Chefchaouen. Sarcasm.
Almost a 4 hour drive from Fes, I wonder if this place was worth visiting just for a day given the weather conditions and the distance. I will also say that it looks better in pictures than in real life. This is my opinion, and I know many will disagree. Maybe the stars didn’t align that day for me to be completely blown away. However, I do not regret my visit.
Chefchaouen is definitely a city with a special vibe not just because of the blue coloured streets, it is known as centre of the marijuana plantations of Morocco, placed on surrounding mountains. I have been passing on the hashish, as the blue is intoxicating enough on it’s own. Built on a mountainside it’s a great place for walkers like me, but not when the temperature is 40°C in the shade.
I really liked the traditional hats of this region, made of straw and decorated with brightly coloured yarn balls like mini-pompoms. I regret not buying one.

I hope you like this little photo diary I put together to share my time adventuring around Chefchaouen. Let me know if you have visited Morocco and how did you like it. If anyone has any feedback I’d be so appreciative to receive your comments and questions below.
