Durmitor

Montenegro

I want to apologize to all the people who have ever hiked with me. I know that I was always complaining, but it seems I’m starting to like it. Hiking not complaining.

National Park Durmitor is like paradise for nature lovers with incredible diversity, is a massif located in northwestern Montenegro. I should have spent here at least a week, because this place is perfect for summer vacation while the rest of Europe is under a burning temperatures. You will not be bored, Durmitor has 18 lakes (I managed to see only one, the biggest), several canyons and 50 peaks above 2000m.

Morning around Crno jezero (Black Lake) was so peaceful and mystique, mist  and low clouds contribute to this feeling. I was seriously loving the light that day. In the afternoons the number of people increases and is much more lively, especially during the weekend.

I took the easy route up. The easy path turned to rocky trails as I headed through the trees from the lake. The trees disappeared as I got higher, unfortunately the weather conditions for that afternoon were not great, so I did not win a single peak. No regrets, I had stunning views of lake and forest as well as the rocky peaks, ate some wild strawberries along the way and hoped that I did not enter the garden of a hungry bear.

TIP: Entrance 3 euros.
