Unusually high temperatures for Finland made me want to spend the day on an island, a favourite seaside escape. Less than 15 minutes boat ride from Helsinki and I found myself in touch with nature, sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, and gorgeous sea views. Pihlajasaari is actually two uninhabited islands connected by a light bridge, and a number of small islets. The cold tones of the sea and forest on the island are broken by red wooden houses set among the rocks.
Loved exploring barefoot in this enticing place, feeling different patterns and textures found on island, soaking up these precious moments of stillness, blissfully swinging the afternoon away with a happy heart. Being barefoot is like underrated form of magic. The sandy side of the island looked ideal at first and I love the sand between my toes, but I was more impressed by the rocky part. I have always been captivated by rocks and cliffs, as evidenced by my often broken knees.
TIP: You can camp on the island, there is a nudist beach, a restaurant and a sauna.

I hope you like this little photo diary I put together to share my time adventuring around Pihlajasaari. Let me know if you have visited Finland and how did you like it. If anyone has any feedback I’d be so appreciative to receive your comments and questions below.

it looks peaceful! definitely, a perfect place to recharge and feel born anew! it’s awesome that it took only 15 minutes boat ride (I, however, personally don’t mind longer boat time)
