I really try to be mindful of my surroundings and appreciate every moment when I travel. Once I stepped into the Marrakesh, I was smacked with the overwhelming smells and sights. Endless forms of transportation buzzing by, honking, loud taxi drivers vying for my attention all at once and I haven’t even set foot in the medina yet. Marrakesh managed to shift my perception.
All that exhilarating rhythm would disappear when I sat down with a cup of hot mint tea. I drank so much tea that I don’t want to taste it until the Christmas, but it was my favourite break during Moroccan days, especially if it came with an almond cookie.
Marrakesh is a red city with a blue gem called Majorelle garden. Tall palms, large cacti and initially sparsely visible, blue colour takes dominance just few steps after, making the various shades of green fade away. Determines my photos.
I extended my stay in this city for a couple of extra nights, I somehow liked it. Even though the riad where I slept was located right next to the mosque, and the call to prayer woke me up constantly around 4 am, I got used to that too. Near Jemaa el-Fnaa, most famous chaotic square in Marrakesh, I met people from whom I regularly bought fruit and msemen (traditional delicious flatbread). Every day we exchanged at least smiles. I often wonder if I leave marks behind, however small and am I changing things around me slightly? I know for sure that travel leaves marks on me. Often beautiful, sometimes tough.

I hope you like this little photo diary I put together to share my time adventuring around Marrakesh. Let me know if you have visited Morocco and how did you like it. If anyone has any feedback I’d be so appreciative to receive your comments and questions below.

Marrakesh is my dream! I am so fascinated by the culture and the colors of the place. I bet the food is superb for me as well, I gather it’s the food I grew up on with a twist
