Many islands, coves and towns are scattered across the Kvarner bay, my ‘backyard’ for years. After a very tough year personally I entered this summer with little expectation and decided to spend part of my vacation right in that backyard. Turns out, island of Lošinj was a chance to finally get back to what I love.
So close to Rijeka and my home, yet so far at sea, in search of pure relaxation Lošinj was my chosen destination. Lošinj is an incredibly green island, widely known for its old pine forests and the climate is delightful because of long sunny hours. There are certain places where I arrive, take a little more than few steps and a quick glance around, and already feel that I want to come back soon. Mali Lošinj (the biggest town on the island although its name actually means little) is one of them.
The sea is truly the place where all my thoughts, worries and fears are left on the surface. I spent several sun-drenched days floating in the sea and lazing on the beach, overlooking the bay burst to life as dozens of colourful windsurf sails across the water. It’s mesmerising to watch, and looks so fun. Beautiful reminder that the little things makes me happy.
I love the laidback beach vibe, lounging under the shade of the pines and losing time, but being active on Lošinj is a way to discover the wonders of the island and the crystalline sea. After a long time I got on the bike, spontaneous ride started in centre of Mali Lošinj continued by the sea, stopped in the Čikat bay for a drink, then slipped to Sunčana (Sunny) bay and the beach Borik, which was my favourite. No one was hurt while I was on the bike.
TIP: Visit museum of Apoxyomenos, the only European museum with just one exhibit. Apoxyomenos is 2000 years old bronze sculpture of the young athlete found at the bottom of the sea.

I hope you like this little photo diary I put together to share my time adventuring around Mali Lošinj. Let me know if you have visited Croatia and how did you like it. If anyone has any feedback I’d be so appreciative to receive your comments and questions below.
